Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is set to square off with the Los Angeles Rams for just the second time in his career. Jackson’s lone meeting against the Rams came back in the 2019 season when he threw five touchdown passes in Baltimore’s 45-6 win over Los Angeles.
Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald has been watching film on Jackson in anticipation of their upcoming encounter in Week 14. Overall, Donald sees that Jackson has grown quite a bit as a quarterback over the last four years.
"I feel like he's taking care of himself a lot more, not taking those hits when he’s getting those long runs, getting down," Donald said during a press conference on Thursday. "I feel like he's not looking to run. He’s looking to throw the ball, what a quarterback is supposed to do. So looking at all his reads, trying to see if he’s going to do something.
"Obviously he’s able to extend it with his feet so you see growth from that standpoint. But as far as the explosive player he is, he's that same guy."
As Donald touched on, Jackson sure has sought to protect himself more on the field. Jackson noted during a press conference last month that while he does not "slide," he at the least gets "down" and maneuvers himself "under hits."
Looking ahead to Week 14, Donald is hoping to see Los Angeles' defense contain Jackson both in the air and on the ground.
"So you just got to find a way to bottle him up, slow him down, get to him, and not let him extend plays with his feet or make those big throws with his arms," Donald said.
The Ravens are aiming to move to a 10-3 record on the season.
