In a recent three-round mock draft, the Baltimore Ravens landed a high-upside defender in the 1st round.
Round 1, Pick 30: Chop Robinson, Edge, Penn State
"Chop Robinson is an athletic freak who many believe he has one of the highest ceilings of any edge rusher in this year's class. The Ravens have been known to put players in positions to utilize their full skill sets, which will be a major need for Robinson, who needs some polishing as a pass rusher before he can come anywhere close to the ceiling people envision for him."
Chop Robinson is an intriguing prospect in this year's class. His speed and athleticism are obvious on tape, but it is also clear that he currently relies solely on it. His ceiling at the pro level could be special if he is able to develop his bag of pass-rush moves and learn to win reps in multiple different ways. Because NFL-caliber tackles aren't going to let you spam the speed rush on them all game long. I think the Ravens would be the perfect spot to help Robinson develop as a pass rusher. And who knows, if he's able to reach his ceiling, he might end up being one of the top defenders in this entire class.
Round 2, Pick 30: Kiran Amegadjie, OT, Yale
The Ravens will likely heavily consider going tackle in the first round, but if they wait till day two to target a tackle, I think Yale's Kiran Amegadjie. Amedgadjie has enough talent that I think he would be a fringe first-rounder in other draft classes, his falling here would truly be a testament to how strong the offensive tackle class is this year. He only allowed one sack and five QB hits over the last three seasons, and if he hadn't suffered an injury last year, who knows how high he would be getting drafted next week?
3, Pick 94: Brenden Rice, WR, USC
The Ravens let starting WR Odell Beckham Jr. hit free agency and now could really use a starter on the outside. The value wasn't there in the first two rounds. But USC's Brenden Rice is a solid option in the third. Rice is the son of Hall of Famer and the consensus greatest WR of all time Jerry Rice. And while Rice (Brenden) doesn't have the talent of his dad his skill set still projects him as a potential NFL starting outside WR. He has the size and ability to compete for the Raven's X WR role, and if Flowers lines up in the slot, Rice can slide into the Z role as well.
