The Baltimore Ravens have designated Mark Andrews to return from injured reserve, the team announced on Friday.
Andrews made his return to the practice field on Friday, where he took part in a few individual drills.
The wait is now on to see whether Andrews will be elevated to Baltimore’s active roster for its AFC divisional round matchup coming up later this month.
Andrews was placed on the injured reserve list after suffering a reported cracked fibula and ankle ligament injury during the Ravens’ home game against the Cincinnati Bengals in November. He sustained the ailments after being on the end of a hip-drop tackle from Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson.
There was initial concern that Andrews would be ruled out for the remainder of the year due to his injuries. However, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh did later note that there "might be an outside chance" that the three-time Pro Bowler could return to action during the ongoing campaign.
Harbaugh added last month that Andrews "is on schedule as far as I’ve heard. Maybe a little ahead of schedule — I don’t know really if that’s accurate to say."
Isaiah Likely went on to be the Ravens’ starting tight end for the remainder of the regular season. Likely capped off regular season play by logging 30 receptions for 411 receiving yards and five touchdown catches.
If Andrews does not receive the green light to play in the AFC divisional round, then Likely is expected to once again be called on to fill in for the veteran tight end.

Would be a huge blow for Baltimore.
