The Baltimore Ravens have concluded their first practice of the week and one of their best players just added another layer to his skill set.
Fullback Patrick Ricard was back on the field on Monday for his first training camp practice. However, there was a little change from what Ricard normally gets into.
The four-time Pro Bowler took his talents to the offensive line.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was asked about Ricard's day in the trenches.
“We’re looking at that. We’re looking at that. It’s just a multitude role kind of thing," said Harbaugh. "Pat [Ricard]’s quite an athlete. He can do a lot of different things, and maybe we expand his role just a little bit for a little bit of time here and see how he does. So, we’re going to look at that.”
Ricard is no stranger to playing multiple positions.
During his first three seasons with the Ravens, Ricard played defensive tackle in addition to his work at fullback. In 2019, Ricard became the first player in 10 years to log over 100 snaps on offense and defense.
We just want to look at it right now and see what it looks like," Harbaugh said, via ESPN. "If you feel good about it, then keep moving with it. It's kind of late [in training camp], so he'd really, really have to look good for us to do that. With Pat, you never know. I wouldn't count him out.
Position flex is a major feather to have in the cap of any player in today's NFL. Well, Ricard epitomizes versatility, and now it's just about how fast can he pick things up.
Ravens receive great news to start the week
Right on time.
