The Los Angeles Chargers have found their next head coach.

Jim Harbaugh has reportedly agreed to become the head coach of the Chargers. Harbaugh will leave his role as Michigan head coach to return to the NFL. He had two more years left on his head coaching contract with the Wolverines.

The Chargers were on the lookout for a new head coach after they parted ways with Brandon Staley in November. They interviewed a multitude of candidates for the position, including Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald and Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken. In the end, Los Angeles decided to pick Harbaugh to fill the vacancy.

The Harbaugh Bowl is back

There will be plenty of storylines to watch in Harbaugh’s first season as Chargers head coach. Among them, he will square off with his brother, John, at SoFi Stadium. The Chargers will host the Baltimore Ravens for a regular season contest later this year.

John holds a 2-0 head coaching record over Jim — both of which came during the latter’s four-year run as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. The two most notably squared off in Super Bowl 47 when John and the Ravens had the last laugh thanks to a dramatic 34-31 win.

It sure will not be a surprise to see this year’s matchup between the Ravens and the Chargers be a part of NBC’s "Sunday Night Football" package for the 2024 season.
