For the most part this offseason, the free agency market was quiet for the Baltimore Ravens outside of their addition of Derrick Henry.

Things could soon heat up for the Ravens though, as they are showing interest in signing former All-Pro S Jamal Adams.

Adams is a free agent after being released by the Seahawks in early March. The cap hit was too high for a player who has had injury issues and is not the player that he once was. The three-time Pro Bowler has played in just 10 games combined over the last two seasons and hasn’t played in more than 12 games since 2019 when he was an All-Pro.

In 12 games played in 2020, Adams was a Pro Bowler in his first season with the Seahawks after being traded by the New York Jets. That was the last season that Adams was impactful positively for the defense.

Last season in nine games, Adams had 48 tackles with seven of them coming for a loss. At this point in his career, Adams is a box safety that operates as more of a linebacker. His coverage ability isn’t what it once was.

After being the No. 6 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Adams has started all 80 games he’s played in over seven seasons. Throughout his career to this point, the former LSU standout has made 494 tackles and 21.5 sacks.

On the backend of his career, Baltimore could quince Adams a chance to chase a Super Bowl ring, while not having to have the pressure of being an impactful starter. Adams would be behind Kyle Hamilton and Marcus Williams in the safety room, giving the Ravens depth that is needed. Geno Stone signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency.

At this point in free agency, it won’t take a big payday to get Adams’ services for at least a season. It will be interesting to see if the Ravens go this route and make an addition late in the cycle.
