The Baltimore Ravens may very well be without tight end Mark Andrews for their Week 1 home matchup against the Houston Texans.
Andrews, who is listed as questionable for Week 1, is "not likely to play," against the Texans, as noted by the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Andrews has been nursing a quad injury for the past weeks. The two-time Pro Bowler had previously missed six consecutive practices due to the ailment. He did manage to make his return to practice on Wednesday, where he took part in individual drills and conditioning work.
In the end, Andrews went on to be a limited participant in each of the Ravens’ past three practice sessions, which played into the team’s final call to rule him as questionable for Week 1. He noted on Thursday that he has been progressing well from his nagging injury, but he may not have made enough progress from it to receive the green light to play on Sunday.
If Baltimore ends up ruling out Andrews from its regular season opener against Houston, Isaiah Likely would then take hold of the starting tight end spot for the contest. Likely is coming off of a rookie campaign in which he tallied 36 receptions and 373 receiving yards.
Overall, Marlon Humphrey is currently the lone player on the Ravens’ 53-man roster who has been officially ruled out from Week 1. The veteran cornerback underwent foot surgery last month, and he has not yet been cleared to be a full participant in practice.
