Keaton Mitchell reached the end zone on his first rush attempt of the Baltimore Ravens’ Week 10 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
Mitchell showed off his top-class speed on his 39-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. It seemed as if the rookie running back was going to be in for an increase in rush attempts following his early rushing touchdown, but this turned out to be far from the case.
Mitchell rushed the football a mere three times in Baltimore’s 33-31 defeat to Cleveland, with just one rush attempt coming in the second half. The Ravens continued to call on Gus Edwards to lead their ground game, and he finished with 24 rushing yards on a lowly 2.2 yards per rush attempt average in the contest.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh took some time during his postgame press conference to speak about the lack of touches for Mitchell following the rookie's 39-yard rushing touchdown.
"It's just kind of the way it went as far as the play calling," Harbaugh said. "It wasn't a part of the plan or anything like that."
On Mitchell’s part, he is simply focused on continuing to make the most out of each of his touches this season.
"It is what it is," Mitchell said after the game. "I ain't going to complain.
"Whenever my name is called, I'm gonna just make the best of the opportunities."
Mitchell recorded 34 rushing yards and 32 receiving yards against Cleveland. His 66 yards from scrimmage in the divisional game ranked second among all Ravens players behind Zay Flowers (73).
The Ravens are now looking ahead to a home clash with the Cincinnati Bengals coming up in Week 11.
Ravens’ Jadeveon Clowney keeps it real on his Browns departure
Big game ahead.
