The Baltimore Ravens are set to call on Isaiah Likely to be their starting tight end for the time being.
Mark Andrews is expected to soon be placed on the injured reserve list. Andrews came away from Baltimore’s home game against the Cincinnati Bengals with a reported cracked fibula and ankle ligament injury. He suffered the injuries during the first quarter of the contest after being on the end of a hip-drop tackle from Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has high expectations for Likely, and he hopes to see the second-year tight end just be himself on the field.
"Just step up and play like Isaiah," Jackson told NBC Sports' Devin McCourty ahead of Week 12. "Don't try to mimic your game after Mark. It's only one Mark, I'm just going to say that, it's only one Mark, but just go out there and be Isaiah.
"What we know he can be, and just show up, show out like he do."
Likely earned first-team reps in practice ahead of Week 12, and barring a major surprise, he is expected to start at the tight end position in the Ravens’ upcoming road matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Likely has recorded 45 receptions for 462 receiving yards and three touchdown catches in 27 games played in the NFL.
