The Baltimore Ravens bolstered their top-10 defense from a year ago on Friday by signing edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney. One of the Ravens' top offensive stars had something to say about it shortly after the news broke.
Josina Anderson of CBS was the first to break the news of Clowney signing with Baltimore. Less than an hour later, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. responded to Anderson, and he endorsed the move with much enthusiasm.
Beckham is no stranger to Clowney. The two briefly played together with the Cleveland Browns in 2021 before Beckham was released. Clowney tied his second-best sack total with nine that season.
Clowney is going into his 10th season in the NFL. So, he won't be expected to be some 12 to 15-sack guy or anything. However, he still sets the edge well against the run, and although he doesn't routinely get a lot of sacks, he can still get pressures and hurries, which can be almost as effective.
Beckham is in a situation where he doesn't have to carry the load at wide receiver either. But if he's anything close to what he last showed in Super Bowl LVI when he was a member of the Los Angeles Rams, Clowney may be hyping him by season's end.
