The Baltimore Ravens are set to sign veteran linebacker Kyle Van Noy, according to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson. Van Noy is “expected” to first join the Ravens’ practice squad.

Van Noy hit free agency in March following a one-season run with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he recorded 46 total tackles and 5.0 sacks in 17 regular season games played. Even as he visited the Ravens in July and was linked with teams such as the Tennessee Titans, he remained a free agent at the start of the 2023 season.

The Ravens’ call to bring in Van Noy comes as injuries have continued to hit their linebackers group. Among them, Odafe Oweh was sidelined from Baltimore’s Week 3 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts due to an ankle injury suffered in the team’s road win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Oweh left Paycor Stadium in a walking boot. Baltimore is keeping a close watch on David Ojabo, who came away from the loss to Indianapolis with an ankle ailment.

Van Noy has 141 games of experience in the NFL, including the playoffs. He opened up his career with the Detroit Lions before he took his talents to the New England Patriots, where he starred in their Super Bowl-winning runs in the 2016 and 2018 seasons. He has also featured for the Miami Dolphins, as he played in 14 contests with the AFC East side in the 2020 campaign.

It will be noteworthy to see whether the Ravens will opt to move Van Noy to their active roster ahead of their upcoming Week 4 road contest against the Cleveland Browns.
