‘We’ll know more tomorrow’ – Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely injures ankle area at end of Tuesday’s training camp practice
Isaiah Likely was injured at the end of Tuesday’s practice, and John Harbaugh provided a timely update.
This is, undoubtedly, the worst part about training camp. Amid the celebrations about a return to football and pads coming back on, football players across the league are now battling injury scares and potentially season-altering ailments. The Baltimore Ravens just had such a scare, with emerging star tight end Isaiah Likely going down on what was the final rep of the team’s practice.
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh provided an update on Likely’s status after seeing the tight end ride off the practice field on the cart. All things considered, this could have been much, much worse.
Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely injures ankle on final rep of Tuesday’s practice
“We’ll know more tomorrow. It’s going to be a few weeks, though…he rolled his ankle/foot area so we’ll get an MRI tomorrow and see exactly what needs to be done, but it will be a few weeks — it’s good that it’s this early in camp.”
– Ravens head coach John Harbaugh on Isaiah Likely’s ankle injury
Likely is on the cusp of potentially playing through a contract year with Baltimore in 2025, although there’s been plenty of buzz that he could be next for an extension this summer by the Ravens. If he gets one, he would assume the mantle of the team’s tight end of the future from veteran Mark Andrews. Both players had excellent seasons in 2024, but Likely is the younger player and has emerged as a key mismatch weapon amid opposing teams’ efforts to try to bottle up the Ravens’ offense.
If Likely is only going to end up missing a few weeks, it will warrant a collective exhale from Baltimore and their fans — and serve as the latest reminder that the cart making an appearance in training camp isn’t always the end of the world. But it will never be any less stressful when it shows up.
