The Baltimore Ravens didn't waste any time in the NFL Draft getting quarterback Lamar Jackson more firepower. Arguably they got the best wide receiver coming out of college, Zay Flowers.
During the Ravens' joint practice with the Washington Commanders on Tuesday, Flowers put on a show by making their cornerbacks look like they just put on a pair of cleats for the first time.
Ravens cornerbacks can certainly relate to the challenge their Washington counterparts faced in matching up with rookie Zay Flowers. The first-round pick has been unblemished in his matchups with Baltimore cornerbacks during the one-on-one periods, and he remained so through the first of two days of joint practices.
In his first rep, Flowers got a step on fellow rookie first-round pick Forbes to make a deep catch down the far sideline. Flowers then lined up against Rachad Wildgoose and made a diving catch while the Commanders’ cornerback had a hold of his jersey. In his third opportunity, Flowers shook defensive back Jartavius Martin before making the catch. –Jeff Zrebiec, The Athletic
Is this even legal?
Flowers should have charges pressed against him for the abuse he put on the cornerbacks of the Commanders, and even his teammates from what he's done to them as well in training camp.
It's one thing to have the savvy that Flowers does when it comes to running routes. However, when adding his 4.42 speed to the equation, Flowers could have an unbelievable rookie campaign, especially with guys like Odell Beckham Jr. to pull attention away from him.
