Ray Lewis knows exactly how Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens felt following their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in last month’s AFC title game.

The Lewis-led Ravens in the 2011 season came up a mere game short of reaching Super Bowl 46, as the New England Patriots sent them home via a narrow 23-20 win in the AFC title game. Lewis and the Ravens would get redemption a year later, coming away with a 28-13 road win over the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.

Some have questioned whether Jackson can at the least lead the Ravens back to the AFC title game. From Lewis' standpoint, he sees that the sixth-year passer can do just that.

"You can only come back when you get this close," Lewis told Tico Sports’ David Andrade. "I felt this pain. … I went through that, 2011, and I told my team after that, 'We will be back at the same place next year to finish this.' So that’s a mindset."

Jackson had his way in the regular season this past year, but his showing against the Chiefs will be what many will remember the most from his sixth campaign with the Ravens. Jackson turned the football over twice against Kansas City, and he anchored just two scoring drives in the contest.

The Ravens are well expected to enter next season among the serious contenders to win the AFC.
