The Ravens’ methodical 23-10 victory over the Jets lacked offensive fireworks but still managed to produced a huge day for Derrick Henry
It was a ho-hum day at the office for Baltimore offense but a monumental day for one star.
The Baltimore Ravens‘ second-half push continued on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium, as the Ravens successfully fended off a feisty New York Jets team to secure a 23-10 victory and, spectacularly, first place in the AFC North.
The Ravens didn’t find offense easy to come by, logging just 23 yards on their first three possessions. Quarterback Lamar Jackson was modest again, and Baltimore scraped its way to just 241 yards of offense.
In the end, the numbers took care of themselves. The Ravens played the time of possession game and fed workhorse running back Derrick Henry 21 times for 64 yards and a pair of two-yard scores. It was a ho-hum day at the office. But for Henry in particular, it was a monumental effort because Henry’s standing among the all-time greats found even better footing in the win.
Derrick Henry moves into 12th place on the all-time rushing leaders list in Ravens’ win

Henry entered the day just 13 yards behind Marcus Allen on the all-time rushing leaders list and left the day having passed Allen, Edgerrin James, and Marshall Faulk on the list. His next crack at history will come on Thanksgiving against the Cincinnati Bengals — he’s now 19 yards from passing Jim Brown for 11th place.
Henry’s season hasn’t been anywhere near as impactful as his first year in Baltimore. The running lanes have disappeared a little faster. The breakaway juice isn’t quite as readily available. The ball security issues early in the season exacerbated the team’s other shortcomings. And injuries on offense made his life even more difficult.
But the recipe is working. The passing game isn’t the same high-flying affair it’s been known for. But the Ravens are hammering opponents at the line of scrimmage and playing sturdy defense to smother teams methodically. That’s where Henry is playing a central role.
And if he continues to do so for the rest of the season, he’ll not only chase down Brown, but he’ll also have a chance to chase down Tony Dorsett for 10th place all-time, too. We’ll see how it all plays out. But for today, it’s time to tip the cap to Henry for passing a trio of legends en route to a win.
