The Ravens strike a quarterback extension — just not the one you’re waiting for
All good things to those who wait…
The Baltimore Ravens appear primed to be moving things around in hopes of a big 2026.
The first splash came courtesy of a blockbuster deal for Maxx Crosby at the end of last week. The next one could come at any moment — whether that comes courtesy of a potential Tyler Linderbaum extension or a Lamar Jackson deal. Jackson and the Ravens haven’t been shy about a new contract, that’s been in the works since last summer. And while there’s still work to be done on that front, we do have a development in the Ravens’ quarterback room. The Ravens are keeping their Lamar Jackson insurance policy around for a few more years.
Ravens land two-year contract extension with QB Tyler “Snoop” Huntley
Tyler Huntley was a pivotal piece of helping to keep the Ravens’ season alive as long as they did in 2025. He supplanted Cooper Rush as the backup behind Jackson mid-way through Lamar’s time off the field in 2025 and went 2-0 as a starter without throwing an interception; marking a triumphant return to Baltimore after spending the 2024 season in Miami with the Dolphins.
The play style has, in the past, offered Baltimore enough similarities to make things work with Huntley in the lineup. Given Lamar’s uniquely dynamic skill set, having overlap with the backup is a huge win and, according to reports, so is Huntley’s new deal to stay as Lamar’s backup. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has the total value of a new two-year extension in Baltimore worth “up to” $11 million — but The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec has the base value of this deal at $5 million before incentives. That’s a mighty fine value for a well-established backup quarterback within this particular room.
It’s a reason to celebrate: stability within the quarterback room. Even if it isn’t the quarterback extension you’ve been waiting for.
Snoop Huntley’s Ravens career by the numbers
- 11 career starts (5-6 record)
- 66.7% completion percentage (273/409)
- 10 passing touchdowns & 7 interceptions
- 83.0 passer rating
