The Tennessee Titans are now the latest team to show a head coaching interest in Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald.
The Titans have requested permission to interview Macdonald for their head coaching opening, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Titans are looking to find an immediate replacement for Mike Vrabel, who they parted ways with on Tuesday. Vrabel served as Titans head coach for six seasons, where he tallied a 54-45 record in regular season play.
Macdonald has also received interview requests from the Washington Commanders and the Carolina Panthers. The Commanders moved on from Ron Rivera on Monday, while the Panthers fired Frank Reich in November.
Macdonald is in his second season as defensive coordinator for the Ravens. He has anchored a Ravens defense that finished regular season play by leading the NFL in points per game allowed (16.5) and takeaways (29). He has helped to get the best out of multiple defensive players on the team, including Kyle Hamilton, who was recently named to the 2024 Pro Bowl Games.
The Titans, Commanders, and Panthers all are not allowed to conduct in-person interviews with Macdonald until after the divisional round of the playoffs.
