Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski was named the winner of the AP NFL Coach of the Year award for the first time in his head coaching career on Thursday.
Stefanski dealt with quite a bit of adversity in his fourth season as Browns head coach. From the multitude of injuries on both sides of the football to the five quarterbacks who started in at least one game for the team, Cleveland had one roller-coaster 2023 season.
The Browns ultimately clinched the No. 5 seed in the AFC.
Stefanski garnered 21 first-place votes for this year’s NFL Coach of the Year award. Five other coaches received at least one first-place vote for the honor, including Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.
Harbaugh tied for fourth place in the voting for the NFL Coach of the Year honor, and he logged two first-place votes. Harbaugh led the Ravens to both the No. 1 seed in the AFC and the AFC North title for the first time since the 2019 season. Baltimore stringed together multiple convincing wins in the regular season, including its 56-19 home victory over the Miami Dolphins in Week 17.
