The Baltimore Ravens formally introduced Zach Orr as their new defensive coordinator on Tuesday. Orr replaces Mike Macdonald, who agreed to become the new head coach of the Seattle Seahawks last week.

Orr was asked during his introductory press conference about just what will be the identity of Baltimore’s defense in the upcoming season. Each defense in the NFL has its own unique identity, and Orr wants his unit to stand out this year.

"I want our defense to play together, first and foremost," Orr said. "The next thing, I want our defense to be violent. That’s the standard."

Orr added that he aims to see the Ravens be "cutting edge" on the defensive side of the ball.

Baltimore’s defense under Macdonald over the past two years emphasized the importance of unity and sure also instilled fear into opposing offenses. Just this past year, the Ravens led the NFL in total sacks (60), as they made life difficult for multiple opposing quarterbacks.

A crucial 2024 campaign awaits Orr later this year.
