The New Orleans Saints snuck out a 24-17 victory over the Chicago Bears in Week 9.
On a pivotal QB sneak play by the Saints to try to salt away the game, Bears defender Kyler Gordon made a unique play. As Saints QB Derek Carr tried to fight forward right before the whistle, Gordon pulled his leg from behind to prevent forward movement.
Overall, it was a smart play as Carr was ruled short, and Gordon's tug seemed to help that case.
Regardless, it was a bit of a dangerous move. All of Carr's momentum was going forward, and pulling his leg in that manner could have resulted in a serious leg injury. We've seen major injuries happen on less contact or force than Carr's leg dealt with on the attempt.
No matter what – the Saints defense got another stop, and Taysom Hill ran the clock out on the Saints' final possession. Plus, Carr was not hurt on the play.
It was a gritty, tough win for the Saints, but they sit atop the NFC South by themselves at 5-4 now.
