The New England Patriots fought hard, but there were some things that proved just too hard to overcome.
In the first half, the Patriots gave up four turnovers.
You simply can't win a game when you make it that easy for a team like the Buffalo Bills. And head coach Bill Belichick along with quarterback Bailey Zappe agrees.
“Obviously a terrible first 20 minutes," Belichick began his press conference by stating.
And he wasn't wrong. In the first half, Zappe had three interceptions and tight end Pharaoh Brown had a fumble.
The Bills went on to score 20 total points on all the turnovers.
“We’re not putting two halves together," Zappe told reporters after the loss. "Take away those four turnovers, what happens? Who knows.”
Despite those struggles, the Patriots managed to stay in the game for the most part. The fought through it and and made it a one score game. But they couldn't get the win.
The defense deserves a lot of the credit, keeping this team in many games this season, and today was no different. But they need some help from the offense, and while Zappe and the others stepped it up later in the game, it wasn't enough.
With one game remaining this season, Belichick's parting message was simple.
"We're onto the Jets."
