Bill Belichick and the University of North Carolina football team will be featured on the offseason edition of "Hard Knocks," FOS' Ryan Glasspiegel reported on Friday.

NBC Sports Boston's Phil Perry provided some more context on why Belichick was selected.

"Belichick has long had a good relationship with NFL Films VP/executive producer Ken Rodgers. He’s been the Hard Knocks showrunner since 2007 and directed “The Two Bills” doc on Belichick and Bill Parcells," he posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Surprise development, but makes sense if Rodgers is involved.

This comes after the NFL was unable to get any team in the league to do it following what happened with the New York Giants.

In January, NFL Films vice president spoke on "The Pat McAfee Show" about the challenges the show faced.

“There’s definitely a chance. We hope it’s back. We’re talking to a bunch of teams about it. But we’ll see what happens. I mean, we need a willing participant on that one. We’re not going to force someone to do that show,” Cossrow said.

The "Joe Schoen debacle" references what happened when they let star running back Saquon Barkley leave in free agency and sign with the Eagles.

But, they decided to focus on Belichick's move into the college side, which is guaranteed to be must-see television.
