Brad Holmes says the Lions are not done in free agency yet, but…
The Detroit Lions are still actively talking to players’ agents and they’re not done yet
The Detroit Lions have had a much more active free agency period than we’re used to seeing as of late. They signed 11 new players. That’s the most since 2021.
The question now is, are the Lions done? Are they packing it up and heading home and shifting all their focus to the draft? Lions GM Brad Holmes answered that question during his talk with Lions Collective on Tuesday.
Brad Holmes says the Lions are not done in free agency yet, but he won’t guarantee that means the Lions actually sign anyone
“We’re not done yet. Like, like, we’re still we got our eyes open all the way up until the draft. So this thing’s not over with yet. Now I don’t have a crystal ball. Don’t take that as the definite…” Holmes said.” We’re still actively looking, still actively having discussions with players’ agents. So we’re not done. So wherever it’s set now, we’re going to keep adding. Obviously, when the draft comes, we’re going to add as much as possible there with the right guys, and then when the draft’s over, we’re going to keep adding post-draft.”
That’s the thing, there. As Holmes said, don’t take it as definite that the Lions are going to sign more players just because they’re still talking to players. But also don’t look at what the team has done so far as the final product. There’s still a long way to go before the Lions report to camp in July.
As it stands, the Lions have 67 players on their roster. They still need to fill many more spaces to reach 90.
