Here’s how the Buffalo Bills could make a splash and land Dallas Cowboys All-Pro LB Micah Parsons in trade
It won’t be easy, but there’s a way for Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane to put together a package to land LB Micah Parsons.
Let’s be honest for a quick second. The Buffalo Bills’ defense (despite some things being out of their control with injuries) has let the team down on more than one occasion against the Kansas City Chiefs in the postseason.
Now, there is an expensive, albeit possible, way for the Buffalo Bills to immediately turn some heads and bring in a big-name player to help bolster that side of the football. Of course, we’re talking about one Micah Parsons.
Dianna Russini broke the news early on August 1st, where she shook up the entire NFL with her report. Allegedly, ‘The Micah Parsons-Cowboys relationship has deteriorated to the point where the star pass rusher is considering drastic measures which could include a trade request or even a declaration that he is severing his relationship with the team.’ Russini cited multiple league sources in her message.
Not long after, Parsons himself took to social media in a message that all but guarantees the validity of the reporting.
In his message titled, “Thank you Dallas” Parsons went on to discuss the current temperature of his contract negotiations and didn’t leave much to the imagination. “Yes I wanted to be here. I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet.” Continuing on, “Unfortunately, I no longer want to be here.” How’s that for being up front?
Jerry Jones goes viral for all the wrong reasons
The news comes after Parsons had received some less-than-desirable feedback (I am being way too nice here) from Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Jones has turned heads this offseason with some comments about his star player, which is no wonder Parsons would be requesting a trade.
Jones pointed out some injury concerns with Parsons. Jones began, “Just because we sign him (Micah Parsons) doesn’t mean we’re going to have him.” That’s where things took a turn for the worse. Jones continued, “He (Parsons) was hurt in 6 games last year. I remember signing a player for the highest-paid at the position in the league, and he got knocked out two-thirds of the year, Dak Prescott.
As if that wasn’t enough, one more final parting shot from the controversial owner “There’s a lot of things you can think about, just as the player does, when you’re thinking about commitment (and) guaranteeing money.”
Parsons, in his message days later, brought up this point from Jones in what looks to be a sort of farewell message to Dallas, “I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying it on the line for the organization our fans and my teammates.”
Say what you will about the Buffalo Bills’ front office, but this isn’t the type of language you normally hear from Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane about a player in a contract situation. Case and point, look at the language he’s used multiple times surrounding the disheveled situation with his own agitated star, James Cook.
Parsons is expensive, and it’s not going to be as easy as Brandon Beane picking up the phone and pleading for the Cowboys to part ways with a basket of cajun honey butter barbecue wings from Bar-Bill in exchange (I would take that offer in a heartbeat).
The trade to end all trades
Instead, the experts over at Cover One set social media ablaze with a doable offer, and would allow the superstar LB to come over to Buffalo and immediately make an impact. Mind you, this is all hypothetical, and Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane has talked at length in the past about not making a splash signing due to the cap restrictions.
There’s always money in the banana stand, and Greg Tompsett, salary cap extraordinare and just overall an amazing content creator, proposed the blockbuster trade with specifics on just how Brandon Beane and the Bills front office would be able to get the deal done.
Micah Parsons to the Buffalo Bills: hypothetical trade details
I have to say this again, this is a hypothetical trade, but man, does it make me jump immediately on the hype train. Greg Tompsett worked his magic and found a way to get a deal with the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for Micah Parsons.
The deal includes multiple players, including AJ Epenesa AND Curtis Samuel, in order to fit Parsons’ staggering $24.07M salary. On top of that, the team would need to do some renegotiating with both Dion Dawkins and Dawson Knox to free up some more of that sweet, sweet cash.
Now, the job is not done. A player like Parsons is going to warrant some draft picks, undoubtedly. In this mock, Tompsett has 3 firsts going over to the Cowboys to get the deal done and then allow GM Brandon Beane and HC Sean McDermott to work their magic.
With all of that being said, I won’t hold my breath. However, the 0.01% chance of a Buffalo Bills offense taking on Kansas City in the playoffs with Micah Parsons breathing down Patrick Mahomes’ neck sounds otherworldly, and I am all here for it.
Parsons being on the Buffalo Bills would be beyond a game-changer. While Brandon Beane has talked at great length about how adding 1 player won’t get you to a Super Bowl, maybe Parsons is that player to do just that. Buffalo needs to get over the hump, and a player like Parsons would go a long way for a team and fanbase that is desperate for their very first Lombardi trophy.
For now, I’ll just fawn over the red helmets. But seriously, Micah Parsons, the wings are that good.
