A lot of names popping up on the injury report might’ve had something to do with it.

The Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins are set for action on Sunday, Nov. 9. It’s no secret that quarterback Josh Allen has a historic run going, specifically against the AFC East divisional foe. The superstar signal-caller has put up 43 touchdowns and averaged a 109 passer rating and three total touchdowns per game in his career against the Dolphins.

Outside of Allen’s brilliance, a major point of emphasis leading up to kickoff is the injuries the Bills are dealing with. Defensive end A.J. Epenesa and linebacker Shaq Thompson have already been ruled out.

Nickel cornerback Taron Johnson, cornerback Christian Benford, defensive tackle DaQuan Jones, and receiver Josh Palmer are all questionable. With Benford and Johnson uncertain, it’s no wonder the team brought in some emergency reinforcements.

The team elevated familiar faces in cornerback Dane Jackson and linebacker Baylon Spector. Spector previously played with the Bills and was brought back on the practice squad; it’ll be his first elevation and Jackson’s second.

Next man-up mentality for Buffalo

The Bills have been hit hard by injuries, but things could be much worse. On Wednesday, a handful of players didn’t practice, including running back James Cook and defensive end Joey Bosa, among others. Bills Mafia was concerned about the players’ availability, but fortunately, they have no status heading into the matchup. Cook himself said he would be full systems go while speaking with Kay Adams on “Up & Adams.”

If Benford were to miss the contest, it would most likely be the first time that rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston sees a full game of action, or near it. The team has been working him back from his injury, splitting reps with veteran cornerback Tre’Davious White. It’ll be White and Hairston as the cornerback duo, you’d have to imagine, if Benford were to be ruled out.

Despite the adversity, the Bills have proven on more than one occasion that they can rise to the challenge. With Allen leading the charge and some depth being tested, Buffalo will look to make a statement against a familiar foe.
