The Buffalo Bills OC Ken Dorsey provided a crucial update on the injury status of their franchise quarterback, Josh Allen.
Allen, in the past few practices, has gone down multiple times with injury. Admittedly, the first was probably the scariest for the fanbase. The team ran the Philly Special at the very end of practice and Allen got clobbered by Taron Johnson which resulted in him laying on his back in the endzone, Bills Mafia held their breath.
While Allen was fine, the very next practice Allen went down again. The OL got blown up and Allen had to be looked at by trainers before coming back into practice. Once again, the Bills Mafia held their breath.
While one person doesn't make a team, it's hard not to argue that if Allen goes down, the season is lost. The superstar quarterback sometimes single-handily wills his team to victory and his health is paramount.
Dorsey opened up on Allen's injury, providing the fanbase with a sigh of relief as it looks like he'll be okay.
The offensive coordinator revealed that Allen was fine after having to leave the field briefly to get stretched out and was once again a full participant. To further put any injury concerns to bed, Dorsey said that he had no concern over Allen's elbow.
If you remember, Allen had injured his elbow last season in a game against the Jets. A few plays later, Allen threw one of the best passes all season that was a bomb to Gabe Davis who just couldn't haul in the catch. Another sign that Allen is near superhuman, throwing that pass with a bad elbow was beyond impressive.
Dorsey, looking to Allen's future, also discussed how there is some thought to managing Allen as the years go on. The superstar quarterback will probably have to limit the amount of hits he takes that are self-inflicted.
While Allen trying to gain an extra yard or two by running over linebackers is fun, it's just not sustainable. Luckily, Allen has improved as a passer since joining the NFL and can dominate in the pocket as well, as long as the offensive line can hold up long enough for him to dissect the defense.
For now, today, Allen is fine and there is no reason to worry. (knock on wood).
