Bills shouldn't worry about Stefon Diggs' lack of production

The Buffalo Bills are the hottest team in the NFL. After looking as if they were dead in the water, Buffalo has rattled off three straight wins, including consecutive wins over the Chiefs and Cowboys, respectively.
While Buffalo has been rolling, their star receiver… well, he hasn't been. Stefon Diggs hasn't had a 100-yard receiving game since Oct. 15 against the New York Giants. Since then, he's had five games of less than 50 yards receiving, including the previous three games. In that same three-game span, Diggs has had two games of less than 30 yards and is averaging just 7.9 yards per catch in that span.
That said, there is no reason to panic when it comes to No. 14 and his ability to produce.
What was the biggest criticism of the Bills' offense at the peak of their struggles last season? They had no weapons outside of Diggs that could make any sort of difference. In the close win over the Giants, Diggs had 10 catches for 100 yards- the next leading receiver was Gabe Davis, who had three catches for 21 yards. In the loss to the Jets in Week 1, Diggs had 10 catches for 102 yards. Who was the next leading receiver yardage wise? Gabe Davis again… with 32 yards on two catches.
Recently, though, the Bills have found balance offensively, and other players have stepped up. Against the Chiefs and Cowboys, James Cook had back-to-back statement games with 362 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns. And against the Chargers, Gabe Davis had a big week with four catches for 130 yards and a touchdown.
Even if you go back to games like the loss to the Bengals. Yes, they lost, but Dalton Kincaid had 10 catches and showed that he was a reliable option. He also had a big game against the Buccaneers earlier this season in a Thursday night win.
Even with his recent slump, Diggs has still had a great year. He has 96 catches for 1,070 yards and eight touchdowns. And it's not as if he hasn't been thrown to over the last month, either. He was targeted 11 times against the Chiefs. It just so happens that the Chiefs have one of the best secondaries in the league, and were going to make someone other than Diggs beat them. Against Dallas, the Bills ran for 266 yards and only threw the ball 15 times. Plus, the Bills' offense is eighth in the NFL in EPA per play in the last three weeks, as well as fourth in rush EPA.
If anything, the recent month has highlighted that the Bills have found balance offensively, which is a very good thing going into the playoffs against a wide open AFC. Should they get in, the Bills will be as difficult an opponent as anyone across both conferences- and No. 14 will be a huge part of that.
