The Buffalo Bills – led by Von Miller's recruiting efforts are hoping to get Odell Beckham Jr. in their ranks. The wide receiver is expected to be ready to go soon, and rumors have gained steam as reports of several NFL teams emerge every day.
The Bills have been at the forefront of the OBJ conversation, especially with their star pass rusher insisting that the team will land the superstar free agent. Miller has had the Super Bowl in his mind since he was brought into the team. He knows better than anyone that you can win the big game with him on the field.
After all, they just did it together in February. Both as "new faces" to the L.A. Rams back then.
Miller has had us thinking the Bills are favorites to land Beckham Jr. all this time because he's constantly deploying social media tactics to target the guy and even mentions it in podcasts every time he gets the chance.
There are some who believe it isn't nearly as likely to happen, though.
As Beckham Jr. gets closer and closer to the playing field, Bookies.com revealed its betting odds for Odell Beckham Jr.'s landing spots made by analyst Adam Thomspon, who's seen as one of the best NFL handicappers in the business.
You'll probably be surprised to learn the Bills don't even crack into the Top 5:
- Cowboys +250
- Packers +300
- Giants +450
- Rams +500
- Buccaneers +650
- Chiefs +1200
- Bills +1200
I'd consider that a very surprising list. The Cowboys make some sense as they do need the WR depth and are among the favorites in the NFC.
But the Packers seem to have one foot out of the playoffs at 3-6 and I don't know if reunions with the Giants or Rams are as likely considering they're not really prime contenders at the moment.
All this time, I've thought it will come down to one of the two AFC behemoths. Chiefs or Bills. Both are locked in a big-time battle for the #1 seed in the conference, a fight that got much more interesting following Buffalo's latest loss.
However, Thomspon has a reason to have them ranked so low.
"When it comes to cap space, the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs – both contenders with elite QBs – are right around the cap number and don't have much flexibility, which could make adding Beckham difficult," writes the professional handicapper.
Salary cap gymnastics are always available, though. If the Bills want him bad enough, they should get OBJ. It will likely come down to "want" rather than "can."
If anything, these odds serve as a reality check for Bills fans. So much hype on social media could be setting fans up for disappointment regarding the potential signing.
