After winning what could've been the Game of the Year on Saturday night, the Buffalo Bills hype is riding high. They control their own destiny as they sit atop the AFC and are looking like one of the best teams in the NFL.

After a fantastic weekend (with some injury hiccups along the way), they got off to a great start on Monday thanks to some much-needed news.

Louie Del Rio from News 4 Buffalo reported offensive lineman Ike Boettger has been activated to the Bills' 53-man roster.

Boettger has missed significant time following a torn Achilles he suffered last December. The Bills' offensive lineman stuck around with the team after the front office signed him to a one-year deal in March and now finally has a chance to play.

Boettger has shown promising flashes at multiple positions and his timing is just perfect for Buffalo right now.

Mitch Morse entered the concussion protocol over the weekend, which is particularly concerning considering it's his sixth concussion of his career. That leaves the Bills wondering what the center's status is and since it's a delicate situation, caution should be excersided every step of the way when it comes to Morse.

In the meantime, Boettger provides the Bills coaching staff with options. Boettger has played both guard spots and even had a brief go at center in 2019, logging 59 snaps at the position.

Perhaps a more seamless transition however, would be to slide Ryan Bates to center with Boettger taking over right guard. Here's what the Bills lineup could look like in that scenario:

  • LT Dion Dawkins
  • LG Rodger Saffold
  • OC Ryan Bates
  • RG Ike Boettger
  • RT Spencer Brown

The Bills offensive line is the biggest weakness of the team and Josh Allen has been able to overcome a shaky lineup all season long. Boettger's return will alleviate an unfortunate situation.
