The Buffalo Bills’ injury troubles in the AFC Divisional Round game against the Denver Broncos have taken an unfortunate turn.

First, there was a scary neck injury to LB Dorian Williams on the opening play of the game that saw him transported to a local hospital. Next, starting C Connor McGovern missed a series as he was evaluated for a concussion. Just ahead of halftime, DB Cam Lewis went to the locker room early to get IV fluids for cramping. In the second half, TE Dawson Knox was evaluated for a stinger and cleared to return to the game.

Really, it has just been one injury after another for the Bills, and now a fifth injury has popped up with a key playmaker on the defensive side of the ball.

Bills DT Ed Oliver ruled questionable to return vs. Broncos with a knee injury

According to Buffalo Bills public relations, Ed Oliver has been ruled questionable to return to the game with a knee injury. This news came at the start of the fourth quarter.

Bills Mafia caught a major break with Oliver returning for this game. He was on a Pro Bowl pace early in the season with three sacks, 12 combined tackles, and one forced fumble in three starts before suffering an ankle injury in Week 4. That injury caused him to miss multiple games, then a torn left bicep in Week 8 against the Baltimore Ravens sidelined him until this game. Oliver has been on a snap restriction, not just because of the bicep injury, but because he underwent meniscus knee cleanup surgery last month. That’s obviously the major concern here, not just for the remainder of this game, but should the Bills advance to the AFC Championship Game. With under seven minutes to go, Buffalo leads Denver 24-23.

Oliver hadn’t recorded any official stats in this game, but he was making a clear impact when he was on the field. He had penetration on a play on first down in the first half that helped a teammate record a tackle for loss.
