Buffalo Bills pass rusher Von Miller has made it clear over the last year that he wants to be a general manager after his playing days are over.
And that's not something that Miller is just casually throwing out there.
The former Super Bowl MVP is already putting in the work to become a general manager after his NFL career is over.
Miller attended the NFL draft combine earlier this offseason to gain experience for his post-playing career.
During his time in Indianapolis for the combine, Miller spent two days with front office personnel and a former general manager while taking notes and gaining knowledge.
From ESPN: He was in Indianapolis to learn more about what it means to be an NFL general manager. With agent Joby Branion's help and Bills general manager Brandon Beane's blessing, Miller spent two days meeting with several front-office personnel, including a former general manager, taking notes on his phone and picking their brains on what goes into their jobs — everything from how the salary cap works to navigating the collective bargaining agreement to what goes into evaluating and selecting players in the draft.
Bills general manager Brandon Beane has earned a reputation as one of the top general managers in the NFL.
And he's confident that Miller has what it takes to be a general manager in the NFL one day.
Part of the reason that Beane feels that way is because Miller didn't mention his desire to be a general manager and then abandon his plans. Instead, Miller has continued to seek out ways to prepare himself for a future front-office job.
"Yeah, I do think he'll do it," said Beane earlier this month (via ESPN). "To me, he could've had a meeting or two with me and then not brought it up again, and I mean, to me, he's dug deeper and deeper … He's a competitive guy. He's always thinking about what's next."
Becoming an NFL general manager is obviously no easy task. And Miller won't just be given a general manager job because he played in the NFL. He'll have to earn it. But I wouldn't bet against him achieving his goal. Miller is the type of person that always reaches the goals he sets.
