The last thing the Bills needed before their most important game of the season was distractions.
Unfortunately, there's been plenty of them.

On top of the ongoing Von Miller situation, it was revealed in a three-part piece by Ty Dunne of Go Long that head coach Sean McDermott used the terrorists on the attacks of September 11, 2001 as an example of how the Bills needed to come together.

The three-part piece entitled "The McDermott Problem" is based on 25 conversations Dunne had with multiple sources.

At St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, NY., McDermott's morning address began innocently enough. he told the entire team they needed to come together. But then, sources on-hand say, he used a strange model: the terrorists on Sept. 11, 2001. He cited the hijackers as a group of people who were all able to get on the same page to orchestrate attacks to perfection.

Amidst the fallout, McDermott took to the stands and addressed the entire situation to the media on Thursday.

"I regretted mentioning 9/11 in my message that day and I immediately apologized to the team," McDermott said. "Not only was 9/11 a horrific event in our country's history, but a day that I lost a good family friend."

McDermott has been under fire all season from Bills fans. In three of their six losses, the offense gave Buffalo the lead with less than two minutes remaining, only for the defense to allow the opposition to win or tie in the final moments of regulation.

The Bills will travel to Kansas City to face the Chiefs this Sunday as they continue to fight for a spot in the AFC playoffs.
