The New England Patriots used to dominate the AFC East, but those times are over. Now it is the Buffalo Bills.

But there is one hurdle that the Bills have yet to jump over and that is winning a Super Bowl championship. They always fall a little short, losing in the playoffs.

So the success that Buffalo has had over the years has come into question. And head coach Sean McDermott is tired of it.

"I think like anything, when you talk about the Bills, whether it's (quarterback) Josh (Allen), myself, our team, we've had so much success," McDermott told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "What's left for Josh and for all of us is to take that one more step that we need to take.

"To say we haven't had success or Josh hasn't had success, I think would be kind of narrow-minded. It's hard to win in the NFL, so you kind of regroup every year, and you take it one game at a time. But we're all looking for Josh to really be that face of the franchise, like he's been, and continuing to evolve, like he's always done."

McDermott took over as head coach in Buffalo in 2017, and has led the Bills to four straight AFC East regular season Championships the past seasons.

In 2020, after claiming the first championship since 1995, the Bills went on to defeat the Colts and the Ravens in the Wild Card and Divisional rounds respectively. However, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs beat them in the AFC Championship, ending their season.

The next year, they got past the Wild Card playoff game once again, but felt to the Chiefs in the Divisional round.

It was exactly the same in 2022, but this time is was the Cincinnati Bengals that stood in their way during the Divisional playoffs.

And then of course, the 2023 season where Josh Allen was once again not able to get the upper hand on Mahomes.

While people can't help but focus on these losses, all of the wins deserves recognition as well. Plus winning four back-to-back-to-back-to-back AFC East regular season Championships is no joke.

The Super Bowl victory is coming for Bills Mafia, it's just a matter of time
