The Buffalo Bills could be addressing one of their biggest roster needs with just over one week to go until the 2025 NFL Draft.
According to a report from ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler, Buffalo is hosting free agent cornerback James Bradberry on a visit on Wednesday.
If a deal is to get done between Bradberry and the Bills, it will interesting to see if it happens before or after the draft. Taking care of arguably their most glaring need ahead of the draft would open up the Bills' options and put less pressure on them to draft a CB with their first-round pick.
However, Buffalo may want to make Bradberry a contingency plan after seeing how the draft shakes out. Bradberry shouldn't command too much of a financial commitment at 31-years-old and coming off a torn Achilles that cost him the entire 2024 season.
Despite his age and injury, Bradberry is just two seasons removed from being named a Second-Team All-Pro. Bills general manager Brandon Beane was the Carolina Panthers' assistant GM when they drafted Bradberry in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Coach Sean McDermott was also with the Panthers at the time, serving as their defensive coordinator.
Those connections could give Bradberry a leg up in signing with the Bills. In eight years played, Bradberry has recorded 478 total tackles, 19 interceptions, 112 passes defensed, four forced fumbles, three sacks, and one touchdown. After spending his first four seasons in Carolina, Bradberry signed a three-year contract with the New York Giants in 2020.
He only played there for two years, then was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles following a regime change in New York. Bradberry signed another three-year deal with Philadelphia in 2023, but was released following the 2024 season. If the Bills do end up signing Bradberry, it shouldn't prevent them from spending a high draft pick on a CB as Bradberry's deal should be very short-term.
NFL Draft fact proves just how consistently great the Buffalo Bills have been with Josh Allen and Sean McDermott
Nobody else can claim this.
