Bills Inactive Report: Josh Allen hit with some brutal news moments before kickoff against the Jets for the Highmark finale
Buffalo is going to be shorthanded against the New York Jets.
The Buffalo Bills are just moments away from kickoff in the Highmark finale against the New York Jets in Week 18. It’s a fitting farewell to the historic stadium, with the team giving fans an extra reason to celebrate with the return of the beloved red helmets.
Head coach Sean McDermott had already ruled out a handful of players for the contest after speaking to the media on Friday. Ahead of the contest, McDermott ruled out safety Jordan Poyer, linebacker Terrel Bernard, and defensive tackle DaQuan Jones.
The final injury report gave fans some cause for concern, as defensive end Joey Bosa, tight end Dalton Kincaid, and defensive tackle Jordan Phillips were all listed as questionable. Buffalo had a lengthy injury report on Friday, with nearly 20 players in total listed on the official report.
Ahead of the contest, the team also elevated linebacker Keonta Jenkins and defensive end Matthew Judon from the practice squad. Fans have been clamoring to see what Judon has left in the tank, and they will get a full view of him in the matchup on Sunday.
Latest update on quarterback Josh Allen
The talk of the town, undoubtedly heading up to the contest, was the availability of quarterback Josh Allen. Fortunately for the Bills Mafia, he was limited in practice on Friday, and McDermott said he should be good to go for the contest.
Allen is looking to continue his unprecedented start streak alive and is one touchdown away from continuing his streak of 40+ touchdowns. He’s a full-go for the contest, but it’s yet to be seen whether he will only play one snap and call it a day, or if the team will try and see if he can’t get that final touchdown to get over the hump and reach 40 once again.
The team is going to be a bit shorthanded on both sides of the football as Bosa has been added to the inactive report and will be unavailable for the matchup. Buffalo looks to be resting some key guys to get healthy for the playoffs. Allen and the offense take a hit as well as offensive lineman Dion Dawkins has been ruled out, a key piece of protection up front will be unavailable.
Another name to keep an eye out for in the contest is running back James Cook. He’s currently leading the league in rushing yards, and with the Indianapolis Colts playing before Buffalo, the team will fully know where he stands in an attempt to take home the rushing crown. Once again, it’s a question of whether Buffalo will be conservative or if they’ll give Cook a chance to earn the title.
Buffalo Bills’ inactive report for Week 18
Rounding out the inactive report for Buffalo heading into Week 18 are wide receiver Brandin Cooks and defensive end Greg Rousseau, to go along with Dawkins, Bosa, Jones, Bernard, and Poyer.
No matter how it unfolds, Sunday is about more than just a Week 18 result; it’s a sendoff. One final run at Highmark Stadium, one last roar from the Bills Mafia, and a chance for Buffalo to close the door on an era before turning the page to what comes next.
