Bills injury update: Reason to be concerned on both sides of the football days before Week 1 vs. Ravens
The latest injury report from the Buffalo Bills PR team.
The Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens are preparing for an upcoming showdown on Sept. 7 in Orchard Park. It should be to no one’s surprise that the beloved fan base, Bills Mafia, is more than ready for kickoff — they’re game-ready. That, unfortunately, cannot be said about the team heading into the matchup.
The latest injury report was released, and it gives cause for concern on both sides of the football. First, the good news. Christian Benford (groin) and Khalil Shakir (ankle) were both full participants. Shakir was unavailable for the preseason due to an injury suffered at the “Return of the Blue & Red practice.” Getting healthy at the right time is important, and at least for Shakir’s case, having him back on the field and healthy is huge for the offense.
Tre’Davious White was still unable to practice (groin), and Elijah Moore (personal) was unavailable. Tyler Bass (groin) is trending in the wrong direction as he was a limited participant on Wednesday, but was unable to participate on Thursday.
Rounding out the unit is yet another weapon for Josh Allen, Keon Coleman. Coleman was a surprise addition while also dealing with — you guessed it — a groin injury. Not to make fun of their injuries even in the slightest, but with four players all dealing with groin injuries, what is going on over there? Coleman was limited on both Wednesday and Thursday.
DeWayne Carter was also officially placed on the IR. He had successful surgery to repair his torn Achilles and seems more than ready to take on the challenge in 2026 and beyond.
Bills are beat up on both sides of the football
First-round rookie Maxwell Hairston is out for at least the first four weeks of the regular season, at least, so having White also potentially missing time is concerning. Lamar Jackson and the Ravens’ offense will look to target the secondary of Buffalo, with issues at safety and injuries in the cornerback room.
Luckily, Buffalo will be providing another update on Friday and then will announce the game status for these players. We’ll know soon enough how equipped the team will be heading into Week 1. The team seems more than ready, despite the injuries, as head coach Sean McDermott and the rest of the coaching staff continue to emphasize a next-man-up mentality.
Baltimore is dealing with injuries of their own, as both Isaiah Likely (foot) and Patrick Ricard (calf) did not practice on Wednesday. Here’s hoping that both teams can get healthy ahead of kickoff — the best football is always played when two great teams are at full strength.
