The Buffalo Bills have an injury bug. I am not anywhere near the panic button as the season is still weeks away, but it’s an issue that is rearing its ugly head early on during the team’s preparations.

Before the practice could even commence, Buffalo announced a slew of players who would be taking a veteran’s rest or would be out due to injury. While the list of players may be long, there is no real surprise here from what the team has offered.

Josh Allen, once again, stole the show, kicking off the beloved Red & Blue practice by donning a beautiful red helmet (if you hate the red helmets, send me a message on MySpace). Bills Mafia was ready to party and packed Highmark Stadium for the exciting event.

Shortly after practice began, news hit that one of the team’s top receivers, Khalil Shakir, suffered an injury. We didn’t have to wait long for an update as Bills reporter and host of Extra Point WGR shared the concerning update via X.

Capaccio stated that, “Bills WR Khalil Shakir was being tended to be trainers on the Bills medical bench. Appeared to be looking at his right foot/ankle area. He then walked with them up to the tunnel.”

There’s been no additional update on the severity of the injury, and this could just be the team being extra cautious as this is only a practice and doesn’t want to risk any serious additional injury to such a big part of the offense.

Shakir stood out last season and asserted himself as a safety valve for Josh Allen. Pinballing through defenders for some of the craziest plays I have witnessed as a Bills fan has me more than excited to see what Shakir will be able to do with another year in the offense. While it’s not from last season, I mean, come on, look at this insane play.

Here’s hoping that it’s nothing serious and we can all breathe a sigh of relief in a few hours or days. Shakir had signed a 4-year contract extension in February, and we are itching to see what he can continue to add to the offense.
