After a Pro Bowl season in 2023, there are high expectations for Buffalo Bills running back James Cook this upcoming season.

And NFL executives, coaches, and scouts gave Cook a shoutout on Monday morning.

Every season prior to training camp, ESPN surveys league executives, coaches and scouts to rank the top 10 players at 11 positions. And first up are running backs.

While Cook wasn't listed in the top 10, he did earn an honorable mention.

"[He] runs outside zone well, putting foot in ground and getting up field," an NFL offensive coach told ESPN. "Very productive year. Can catch out of the backfield,"

Cook was drafted by the Bills in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, coming out of Georgia. He was familiar with winning having won the College Football National Championship with the Bulldogs in 2021.

In his first season with Buffalo, Cook had 89 carries for 507 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns along with 21 receptions for 180 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown across 16 games. However, in his second season, the running back showed tremendous improvement.

He finished the 2023 season with 237 carries for 1,122 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns along with 44 receptions for 445 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns.

However, despite earning an honorable mention on this list, he was left off the top 20 running backs in the NFL by the PFF back in June. He came in at No. 24.
