James Cook is ready to take the league by storm.
The second-year running back showed flashes during his rookie season. The talented back was given more opportunities as the year progressed and ran away with it, no pun intended.
Now, looking onto year two, Cook wants to make it clear to the team and the entire league: this is his backfield.
During an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show, Cook explained what he wanted his role to be next season. The Bills running back didn't mince words or hold back when asked, "Obviously RB1."
Cook continued, discussing what he wants to see out of his game next season. "Change the game with my versatility. Catching the ball out of the backfield. Pass blocking. Just try to do what I can do to help the team win games and ultimately win the Super Bowl.”
The Bills' second-year running back was asked about different accolades and what he wanted to accomplish outside of a Super Bowl victory. "My goal is to be an All-Pro or Pro Bowler like my brother. He continued, "Hopefully be in the Pro Bowl with him one day."
To end the segment, Cook opened up on one of the more hot topic items related to the team, his brother Dalvin Cook. Buffalo has been linked to the recently dropped running back and Eisen asked James what he thought about the team picking up Dalvin. "I think that will be a bit hard." Cook could be referring to the difficult cap space Buffalo still finds itself in. That, or the already crowded and talented running back room that currently exists.
The addition of All-Pro running back Dalvin Cook would be fun, seeing a backfield of both Cook brothers, but James came clean and revealed what we've known all along: it's not happening.
James Cook is a breakout candidate for next season and seems like he's ready to dominate in his sophomore season. Cook wants the RB1 position and has shown at times last season why he's deserving of it.
Only time will tell and for all intents and purposes, it looks like it'll be his room to lose.
