The Buffalo Bills found a diamond in the rough with Josh Allen.

While the pain still lingers from their disappointing playoff loss, the offseason is officially upon us. We are months away from any type of meaningful football taking place. This freedom allows players to go on vacation, continue workouts, and even join a podcast.

Allen's return

Josh Allen made his triumphant return to Kyle Brandts Basementa podcast hosted by Good Morning Football co-host and Angry Runs extraordinaire, Kyle Brandt.

Brandt, a vocal supporter of Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, discussed a wide array of important offseason topics: Allen's elbow injury, the upcoming NFL season, and even the Kansas City Chiefs.

Brandt was direct with Josh Allen about Patrick Mahomes and the state of the NFL. Specifically, what the Bills would need to do to win a championship. "You have to go through him to get it done. How does that make you feel? You're a competitor first and foremost"

Josh Allen doing Josh Allen things

With the most Josh-Allen-type answer possible, he wasted no time getting straight to the point. Proving once again why he is a staple for the Buffalo community and a big reason why he is beloved among the Bills Mafia.

"To be the best you got to beat the best," Allen responded.

While the Buffalo Bills have been able to secure a few victories during the regular season against the Chiefs, they fall flat anytime the two teams meet in the playoffs. Speaking on the playoffs and the early exit, Allen discussed what went wrong. "We didn't take advantage of our opportunities."

Outside of taking advantage of the opportunities, the team ran out of gas from an emotional standpoint. The ups and downs this season presented were unmatched in Bills' history. From Dawson Knox losing his brother, to the deadly snowpocalypse, and the Damar Hamlin situation, the team was drained by the end of the year.

Speaking directly on his competition, Allen was direct and forthcoming about his stance on Patrick Mahomes.

"If you look at him statistically (Patrick Mahomes) and what he's been able to do in his first 4, 5, 6 years in the league. It's kind of unmatched by anybody."

Allen's own history

While it may be unmatched, Allen may have forgotten his own personal history with the Buffalo Bills and NFL. This season, he surpassed Dan Marino for the most touchdowns by a player through their first 5 seasons. While Mahomes may be outmatched, the Bills quarterback is surprisingly not far behind.

Wrapping up his segment, Allen gave the ultimate praise for Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and the Kansas City Chiefs. In his message, he outlined what the Bills need to do if they want to reach the same level as the Chiefs.

“They’re the mantra of what you want to be," he admitted. "We gotta find ways to be like them.”

Tough road ahead for the Bills

Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills have a difficult offseason ahead of them. Premiere players could be out the door, big holes in the roster with limited cap space, and a city that's starving for a championship.

Football can't come back soon enough, we know the Bills Mafia will be ready.
