The Buffalo Bills relied heavily on the dynamic duo of Stefon Diggs and Josh Allen throughout the contest. In fact, outside of Diggs, the receiving room was relatively quiet outside of a ridiculous touchdown to Quintin Morris. The unsung hero even got a special gift from the Bills Mafia after the game.
Diggs, once again, let the critics know that he's one of, if not, the best receivers in all of football. Another day, another easy 100-yard day for Diggs who seemed to find himself open on each and every play.
Immediately after the contest, Allen opened up about the game plan that was so heavily focused on getting Diggs the ball. While he didn't outright call out critics, his words were a stark reminder: Diggs loves being in Buffalo and he's damn good at football.
Additionally, Allen opened up on a major problem that the offense is currently dealing with: Target share. While the offense flowed through Diggs, the team just couldn't find a way to get other receivers incorporated throughout the game. His entire postgame message can be found at the 9:14 mark in the below video.
Diggs was targeted on 11 of Allen's first 16 attempts and 16 of Allen's total 30 throws of the evening. When speaking on Diggs' target share, Allen provided, "I mean, I'm throwing it to the open guys. And he does a good job of getting open and making plays with the ball in his hands"
Allen continued, "When you have a receiver as talented as him, he's a first read in a lot of concepts and he's open, you can't really pass him up."
That's when the superstar QB made the admission on a problem with the offense, "We do have to utilize other guys, though. I do think we're a better team when we are able to spread the ball around more, get everybody involved."
Obviously, gameplan dictates a large portion of that, to which Allen replied, "It's kind of dictated throughout each week, the flow of the game, based on how they're playing us." He continued, "Sometimes it's gonna be like that and there's gonna be a game where he doesn't get as many targets as we want him to as well."
While we are thrilled Diggs was able to contribute, once again, the team does need to find a way to make it so it's not just a one-man show with Diggs needing a huge game to keep the team in it. Feed Diggs early and often, but share the love… Just a little bit.
