The NFL and Tom Braddy appear ready to move on.
On Monday, the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback talked about his retirement with Colin Cowherd and touched on his future beyond the playing field, including a new broadcast career with FOX.
But his status as the consensus GOAT paired with a short-lived retirement just one year ago has created many doubters. People who even though he added the "for good" phrasing to his retirement announcement believe he'll come back at some point.
That includes at least one NFL executive who isn't buying into the idea of Brady staying retired.
Not only that but he has a couple of potential landing spots for Brady in mind. And that includes one that would majorly impact the Buffalo Bills.
According to NFL columnist Mike Sando from The Athletic, that's one prediction he heard from an anonymous executive from around the league.
"He has played too well, too recently I just don’t buy it," says the exec in Sando's column before speculating on additional motivations for Brady.
"Last year and this year showed him the fantasy of going out on top is probably gone. Given where his kids are in New York and Miami, there are only a handful of places he could maybe play. Does he want to start over and do all that?”
Sando notes that Brady was already linked to the Dolphins last offseason which even resulted in tampering penalties and adds that "The Dolphins could need a quarterback in the near future as chronic concussions threaten Tagovailoa’s career."
If such a scenario were to play out at some point in the next year or two, that would mean Brady landing right back in the AFC East. And that would translate into facing the Bills twice a year like in the olden days.
And yet, it's a crazy enough scenario to be skeptical about it.
It's Tom Brady, sure. He even beat Father Time. But he sounds convinced about his retirement this time around, which wasn't the case at all last year.
I'd bet he stays retired and is back near football in 2024 as he already said that's when his career with FOX starts. But then again, why wait until 2024? Vacation or work?
