Bills have opportunity to trade for NFL veteran that recently requested a trade
The Buffalo Bills could be a good fit for an NFL veteran that recently requested a trade
With Devin Singletary hitting free agency, the Buffalo Bills could stand to add a running back to the roster this offseason.
That's part of the reason why Buffalo has been mentioned as a potential trade option for Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry.
Another trade option at the running back position emerged on Monday.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Monday that Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler has requested permission to speak to teams about a trade.
Ekeler made the request after he was unable to reach an agreement on an extension with the Chargers.
Ekeler, who turns 28 in May, is set to be a free agent after the 2023 season.
The veteran running back is a versatile player who is extremely dangerous in the passing game. After the Bills reportedly had interest in Christian McCaffrey (another versatile running back) last season, it would make sense for them to show some interest in Ekeler.
Of course, the deal would depend on what the Chargers want in compensation and what kind of extension Ekeler is expecting.
If Los Angeles will take a mid-round pick and if Ekeler is reasonable with what he expects in an extension, then this is a scenario that would make a lot of sense for the Bills.
