The first wave of free agency has passed, which means the Buffalo Bills, and the rest of the NFL, can start getting a better grasp on their 2023 NFL Draft strategy.

There will still be plenty of moves made in the coming days/weeks, but the big signings (outside of Odell Beckham Jr…if that's considered "big") have already been made.

(OBJ, by the way, has been linked to the Bills.)

One of the Bills' top remaining needs is at running back.

Buffalo needs a game-changing running back and trading for someone like Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry doesn't appear to a viable plan for the Bills.

Drafting a running back seems like the better move. And drafting a running back in the first round (so the Bills can utilize a fifth-year option) could be a wise approach.

In fact, that's exactly what CBS Sports has the Bills doing in next month's draft.

The latest post-free agency mock draft from CBS Sports has Buffalo selecting Texas running back Bijan Robinson with the No. 27 overall pick.

From CBS Sports: Bijan Robinson is special, and while he is probably one of the best players in this class, he could still be around late in Round 1 because he's a running back. And yes, we know, the Bills used a second-round pick on James Cook a year ago. But Cook isn't an every-down back, and more than that, Nyheim Hines is the only other RB currently on the roster ahead of free agency. Adding a Saquon Barkley-type talent to this offense? There are worse things.

Robinson is easily one of the most dynamic players in the draft. Landing a potential superstar at the end of the first round feels like it would be a massive steal for the Bills — even if Robinson is a running back (a position that's been greatly devalued over the last two decades).

Buffalo is in a good spot where they can afford some luxuries. Robinson is a luxury that would put the Bills' offense over the top.
