For their first Halloween as a married couple, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and singer Hailee Steinfeld pulled out all the stops. And the costume made a lot of sense, considering a behind-the-scenes look fans got earlier this year during HBO’s “Hard Knocks.”

Many times during HBO’s hit show, the world got its first real look at Allen and the team more intimately, and it was clear that he was a goofball. Often quoting lines from famous comedies over the years, including several from Adam Sandler, where Allen might have said “Big Daddy” was one of his favorites.

Nevertheless, he and his wife, Hailee, went with another Sandler classic, “The Waterboy.” In the movie, Sandler’s character plays a waterboy who then gets a chance to get on the field and dominate.

Steinfeld shared the photo of her and her husband in the costumes during her latest newsletter for her Beau Society outlet, in which Allen is dressed as the title character Bobby Boucher, while Steinfeld dressed up as Boucher’s love interest Vicki Vallencourt and was holding a South Central Louisiana State University hat and her “Want Me To Kill Them?” sign.

Bobby Boucher’s a game wrecker when he’s on the field, and while it’s a loose comparison, Allen is the same when he’s on the field. Yes, it’s only a snapshot into the lives of the two superstars in their own fields, but it’s nice to see this kind of humor.

And it just makes it easier for Bills fans to love their star quarterback. Plus, while it’s purely speculation, it’s easy to imagine there’s a lot of laughter in that house, if these mere photo of their Halloween costumes is any indication. Allen may be a goofball off the field, but he’s one of the fiercest competitors on the football field.

Some laughs and jokes on Halloween, and then back after it with an upcoming contest against the Kansas City Chiefs. The costume fun is over, but if Allen stays in “Waterboy” mode this weekend, Bills fans could be the ones with all the treats.

Another professional sports team used Adam Sandler as inspiration for their Halloween costumes

While holding an Adam Sandler-themed Halloween party, the Seattle Kraken got the perfect surprise as the actor walked in and saw all the players wearing costumes that represented viral moments or incredible roles he portrayed over the years.
