In the newest episode of "The Football Room," James Foster and I turned back the clock to the 2023 NFL Draft.
After watching their rookie seasons, we regraded the top 32 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft. Part one of the series covered the first 16 picks. But the newest episode covered picks 17-32.
Which included the Buffalo Bills' selection of Dalton Kincaid with the 25th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. This article will share how we graded the pick and some of what we had to say about Kincaid.
James Foster: B
"For me, it's more looking at the upside and especially looking at how he finished the season. Because I think as the season progressed they started to use him in a more appropriate and explosive role in the passing game. If you watch the first 3/4 of the season, it was mostly stick option routes 5-7 yards past the line of scrimmage. He was mostly just a check-down option; he really didn't even have the opportunity to make big plays via his usage in their offense."
Destin Adams: B
"Looking towards year two you have to expect a large jump in production for Kincaid in terms of targets. I think Kincaid showed this past year what he can be as a route runner and what he can be as a tight end. And having a dynamic playmaker at tight end has shown itself to be such an advantage for an NFL offense."
Kincaid ended his rookie season with 73 catches, 673 yards, and two touchdowns. Which was a pretty strong rookie season, given the typical struggles rookie TEs endure. And he ended the year with over 70 catches while sharing targets with the likes of Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis. They both have moved on to new teams this offseason and now Kincaid is arguably the most reliable target remaining for Josh Allen. I think it's fair to assume Kincaid is in for a massive sophomore season with the Bills offense.
