The Buffalo Bills were needing to immediately find some help after OT Tommy Doyle was lost for the season. I previously wrote about Sean McDermott opening up on Doyle's injury and what it means for the team's future.
Last week, Doyle wasn't the only hit to the Bills' offensive line as it was reported earlier that Brandon Shell was going to be retiring, adding another blow to the thinning unit.
Now, it appears that the Bills have made a decision to bring in some crucial depth to the offensive line. I wrote about the team working out former Buffalo Bill Garrett McGhin last week, and it appears the team has officially signed him.
Ryan Talbot from Syracuse.com confirmed the early reporting from Draft Diamonds that OL Garrett McGhin would be joining the Bills.
McGhin has a history with the organization. While he's jumped around the league, he was picked up by the Bills in 2019. Later, he was placed on IR and then waived and released before joining the Panthers for a short sting before returning to the Bills, then joining the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Giants before testing his luck in developmental leagues like the USFL and XFL.
In the USFL, McGhin shined and was recognized as being part of the inaugural All-USFL team.
In 2023, McGhin was selected in the second round by the Arlington Renegades where he wound up winning a league title while starting in all 10 games for the team.
With the Bills needing depth, this is a crucial pickup. If nothing else, McGhin should be a practice squad body on a team in desperate need. Now is his time to shine, if he has what it takes the front office will have a difficult time keeping him off the field.

The Buffalo Bills had a scary incident unfold in their preseason matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, it’s been confirmed that OT Tommy Doyle will miss the entire season.
