Bills Mafia was clamoring for big changes. While this isn't the splash signing fans were hoping for, it's a step in the right direction.
Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott need to be methodical with the current cap situation in order to help take the team to the next level.
Just a few weeks removed from their devastating playoff loss, there has been a slew of roster moves. After losing Chad Hall to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo quickly filled the vacant wide receiver coaching position.
Now, the Buffalo Bills' social media account made an announcement of a new addition to the secondary.
Buffalo announced the signing of former Kansas City Chiefs safety Zayne Anderson. Anderon joins the roster on a two-year deal.
The talented young safety provides much-needed depth for the Buffalo Bills. Anderson's recent stint with the Chiefs was mostly spent on their practice squad.
Buffalo struggled down the stretch with their health last season, specifically in the safety position. Jaquan Johnson and Dean Marlowe were forced into playing time after Micah Hyde and Damar Hamlin suffered season-ending injuries.
While this move doesn't completely shake up the roster, Anderson has an opportunity to make an immediate impact.
The talented young safety has spent the better part of his career on the practice squad but has shown promise with limited opportunities. Anderson's addition is much more appealing when you look at the current state of the secondary.
Buffalo's All-Pro safety Jordan Poyer is due for a contract that is doubtful to come. Poyer himself admitted that this past season and so far this offseason, no discussions surrounding his future with the team have been made.
Plain and simple, Buffalo needs bodies in the safety position.
Here's hoping that Anderson isn't the only signing Beane and McDermott make this offseason.
