The Buffalo Bills' loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars was made that much worse with the potential loss of two of the team's most dominant defensive players: DaQuan Jones and Matt Milano.
Jones was injured early in the contest during a tackle for loss where he could be seen grabbing his shoulder area. The early reports are that Jones suffered a pec injury and could miss substantial time.
Perhaps the most devastating injury was that of Matt Milano. Early in the contest, Milano got his leg stuck underneath the pile in a scary injury in which Milano needed to be carted off the field and immediately put into an aircast. Again, early reports are that Milano is going to be lost for the season.
There were several other players who got banged up during the contest but found their way back on the field. One of which was Taron Johnson who got his leg stuck and was on the ground writhing in pain.
When Johnson went down, the Bills Mafia couldn't help but share the same sentiment, who is going to get hurt next? Luckily, the superstar nickel corner was able to come back into the game. Immediately after, Johnson went viral by lashing out at the NFL for the horrid field conditions both teams had to endure.
Speaking on the state of the field and his injury, Johnson was blunt, "I think that turf is terrible. My foot got stuck in the ground, but I'm okay. Thank God.
Continuing on, the talented defensive back had a direct message for the NFL, "Take that turf out, especially that one. I'd rather play on grass, I'm sure 90 to 100% in the NFL would rather play on the grass. So, I don't know why we're playing on stuff like that.
On the myriad of injuries the team faced, Johnson was clear with his messaging, "There were injuries on the field today, some really really bad. I just feel like the turf has something to do with it."
Johnson isn't the only one to open up on the artificial vs. real grass argument this season. Plenty of players have suffered serious injuries playing on the artificial grass and it's becoming a movement to get each team to remove the artificial turf as it's proven to be unsafe for players.
The team suffered through some brutal injuries yesterday, Johnson was almost another one due to the poor field conditions with the artificial turf. While it's unlikely, maybe this is what the NFL needed to hear in order to make a change.
