The Buffalo Bills have fallen short once again.
This time, it came against the Cincinnati Bengals in a bit of a blowout. Honestly, every facet of the game for Buffalo simply wasn't good enough.
The defense struggled on the back end and got very little pressure on Joe Burrow. The Bills defense also got dominated on the ground by Cincinnati's run game.
On offense, Josh Allen was running for his life once again. He and his receivers could not find footing – both figuratively and literally in the snow. In the trenches, the Bills struggled along their offensive line again.
It became their achilles heel as the season wound down, and now, they are headed home. That being said, there is plenty of offensive line talent in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Bills may want to use their first-round selection on a new offensive tackle.
Paris Johnson Jr., Ohio State
Johnson Jr. is projected to go in the top fifteen picks of this year's draft. That being said, we know how projections go sometimes.
If Johnson Jr. is in range for the Bills, moving up for him may be the best choice. He has versatility to play both inside and outside. The former Buckeye proved that during his time at OSU.
Additionally, Johnson is possibly the smoothest mover of an OL in this class. He's quick, but decisive, and he is dominant in the run game. The Bills rely too much on "hero ball" from Josh Allen in the passing game. A key blocker in the run game could open up the offense a lot more.
Johnson Jr. provides the with upside in pass protection due to his athleticism.
Peter Skoronski, Northwestern
Skoronski is one of the most-discussed prospects in this class so far. He has shorter arms which may scare some teams. Regardless, his skillset is clear. He is the most NFL-ready offensive lineman in this class. The Bills need a guy like that desperately.
Skoronski's size may force him to slide down the board a bit. The Bills need to make a play for him if possible because he could make them look extremely smart.
He's got a firm anchor and great hand placement. The polish is clear in his game.
Dawand Jones, Ohio State
Jones might have the most upside of any OT in this entire class. He's had inconsistencies in his college career, but the physical traits are marvelous. At 6'8" and 360 pounds, he looms large on any OL.
For Buffalo, sliding him in for Spencer Brown as a starter at tackle makes sense. Jones is fantastic in the run game as a mauling force.
His power is unreal, which should surprise no one. His pass protection has flaws, but those can be ironed out if put in the right situation. Jones could be available late in the first round for the Bills.
